Sr Engineer – LATAM Product Compliance

Kohler is seeking a Compliance Specialist to join our Codes & Standards team with a primary focus on supporting product compliance across Latin America, beginning with Mexico and expanding support to other key LATAM markets. This role will help ensure that products designed for North America are certified and compliant for sale into LATAM, accounting for electrical, plumbing, water, labeling, and market-access requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical understanding—preferably with experience in electrical product compliance and/or plumbing and water-efficiency requirements—and will be comfortable navigating a varied set of regulatory expectations across the region. This individual will serve as a central contact point for LATAM compliance needs and contribute to building scalable processes to support Kohler’s growth in these markets.
KEY / SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand product requirements in Mexico and additional LATAM markets and advise on compliance obligations when bringing products into the region.
- Support the migration of North American products to LATAM by identifying gaps in electrical, plumbing, water-efficiency, material, or labeling requirements.
- Coordinate with third-party agencies and local representatives to manage product registrations, renewals, documentation, and other market-access activities.
- Review designs, specifications, and component selections to determine whether they align with target-country compliance expectations.
- Maintain organized records, certification files, and compliance evidence to support audits, renewals, and internal traceability.
- Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Product Management, Supply Chain, Marketing, and regional commercial teams to plan and execute compliance strategies.
- Support the development of clear processes for LATAM product extensions, including early assessments, documentation needs, timelines, and risk considerations.
- Stay informed on regulatory changes across Mexico and other LATAM markets and share updates that may impact sales or product planning.
- Prepare educational materials or reference guides to help teams understand compliance expectations in the region.
- Contribute to ongoing improvement of internal systems, workflows, and resources that support LATAM market access.

Skills/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering; electrical or mechanical engineering background is ideal.
- Minimum of 4 or more years of work experience.
- Experience in product compliance, certification, regulatory affairs, or new product development, with a focus on Mexico or broader LATAM markets.
- Fluency in English and Spanish is required; Portuguese proficiency is desired.
- Willingness and ability to travel periodically to certification bodies, testing laboratories, regulatory agencies, and regional partners across LATAM as needed to support compliance activities.
- Familiarity with electrical compliance requirements is strongly preferred; experience with plumbing/water product compliance is also valuable.
- Ability to interpret technical requirements and understand how they apply to product designs coming from North America.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple compliance activities across several markets.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills and comfort working with cross-functional and global teams.
- Critical thinker and proactive learner with an interest in understanding evolving requirements across diverse regulatory environments.
