Opportunity
The Market Grocery Supervisor is responsible for curating and managing the store’s premium grocery, alcohol, gift and retail products selection, ensuring an exceptional shopping experience for customers seeking craft, artisanal, and luxury food, beverages and gifts. This role combines product expertise, merchandising skills, and customer engagement to elevate the store’s reputation as a destination for fine merchandise.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Team Leadership and Development
- Manage daily operations of the grocery department, including dry goods, refrigerated, frozen, specialty, produce, beer, wine & spirits and gift items
- Recruit, train, lead and develop a team of retail associates, ensuring high performance and engagement
- Maintain store cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching
- Foster a positive, service-oriented team culture
- Act in the capacity of store leaders as needed and serve as a member of the leadership team
Product Expertise and Customer Engagement
- Provide expert product knowledge and recommendations, including pairings and tasting notes as well as educate customers on product origins, varietals, brewing/distilling methods, and seasonal offerings
- Host tastings, promotional events, and educational sessions in collaboration with vendors
- Resolve customer inquiries and complaints with professionalism and care
- Foster a welcoming and upscale shopping environment
Inventory Management
- Oversee ordering, stocking, and inventory control of grocery department
- Monitor department sales, shrink, and labor and accuracy of pricing and signage
- Track sales trends and adjust inventory to reflect customer preferences and seasonal shifts
- Ensure proper storage and handling of alcohol, dry goods, refrigerated, and frozen products to maintain quality
- Collaborate with vendors and buyers to source premium and specialty items
Merchandising and Presentation
- Create visually appealing displays that reflect the store’s upscale brand
- Rotate stock and ensure compliance with freshness and expiration standards
- Ensure accurate pricing, signage, and product rotation
Compliance and Safety
- Adhere to call local and state laws regarding alcohol sales and age verification
- Train staff on responsible alcohol handling and customer interaction
- Maintain documentation for audits and regulatory compliance
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and company standards
Will complete all duties and requests as assigned by management
This is a full-time position, working weekdays & weekends. Shifts vary between 6:00am - 9:00pm.
Skills/Requirements
- Highschool diploma or equivalent required
- Must be 18 years old and have ability to obtain a liquor license
- 3+ years of experience in grocery, wine and spirits, or retail industry with leadership experience required
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to lead by example and motivate a team
- Strong product knowledge of gourmet, organic, and specialty groceries and premium beverages
- Calm under pressure with excellent problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with POS systems and inventory management tools as well as basic reporting tools and working knowledge of technology, computers, and software (e.g., Excell, word, outlook)
- Passion for food, hospitality, and creating memorable customer experiences as well as customer service and team development
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs, stand, and walk for long periods of time
- Flexible availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays

The hourly range for this position is $27.25 - $34.05. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including candidate's education and work location.
