Regional Energy & Utilities Manager – Mexico

Job Summary
The Regional Energy & Utilities Manager – Mexico will lead energy procurement, sustainability initiatives, and utility management across Kohler's Mexican operations. This role supports Kohler’s global sustainability goals, including achieving 100% renewable electricity adoption by 2035.
This position strongly favors candidates with established industry and government connections to support strategic initiatives, regulatory engagement, and project acceleration.
Key Responsibilities
Contract Management:
• Negotiate and manage electricity and natural gas contracts with Qualified Suppliers and Qualified Users.
• Monitor market trends and regulatory changes to optimize energy procurement strategies.
Sustainability Leadership:
• Drive initiatives aligned with Kohler’s sustainability goals, including renewable energy adoption, Scopes 1 & 2 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction, and water use reduction.
• Collaborate with Corporate Sustainability and Engineering teams to develop and implement energy projects.
Regulatory Compliance:
• Identify applicable regulatory requirements and lead compliance efforts, including ISO 50001 and other relevant standards.
• Ensure adherence to safety protocols and risk mitigation practices in energy operations.
Communication & Stakeholder Engagement:
• Demonstrate exceptional communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
• Translate complex technical and legal topics into concise, executive-level summaries.
• Engage effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
Financial & Budgeting Support:
• Support budgeting and forecasting for energy and utility expenses.
• Analyze cost-saving opportunities and present findings to leadership.
Collaboration:
• Partner with Corporate Engineering and Local Engineering teams to develop and execute energy-related projects.
• Coordinate with U.S.-based counterparts to ensure strategic alignment.
• Build and maintain strong networks within the energy industry and government agencies to support strategic initiatives and regulatory engagement.
Tools & Systems:
• Demonstrate proficiency in tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, SAP, Power Monitoring Expert (PME), and Energy & Sustainability Reporting Software to support analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
Skills/Requirements
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy Management, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in energy procurement, sustainability, or utility management.
• Deep understanding of Mexico’s energy markets and regulatory environment.
• Fluent in Spanish and English.
• Strong analytical, negotiation, interpersonal, and project management skills.
Travel
• Expected to travel quarterly to Kohler’s corporate headquarters in the U.S. and regularly between locations in Mexico (Monterrey, Bajio, Reynosa).
