Branch Manager - Summary
The Branch Manager is responsible for directing, maintaining, and controlling all aspects of the branch location. This includes monitoring policies and procedures, consulting with leadership, and making strategic decisions to ensure branch objectives are met. The role involves developing a high-performing team, building a strong customer base, and fostering a safe and comfortable working environment.
Major Responsibilities
Leadership & Team Development
- Provide guidance and direction to internal staff, ensuring departments work effectively toward shared goals.
- Ensure all staff are properly trained and training is regularly updated.
- Manage and encourage optimal performance of all direct reports, including training and development.
- Conduct weekly sales meetings and resolve day-to-day personnel issues.
Sales & Customer Engagement
- Grow sales through coaching and motivating sales and support teams.
- Maintain and grow business through strategic planning and customer relationship management.
- Participate in customer calls for sales and technical support.
- Conduct outside sales visits to develop key customer relationships.
- Ensure customer satisfaction meets or exceeds Branch Operational Scorecard targets.
Operations & Strategy
- Maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Assist with warehouse and physical plant planning.
- Manage vendor relations and contribute to strategic planning.
- Oversee pricing maintenance and recommend product training.
- Solve customer, staff, and company disputes.
- Determine annual sales projections and track progress.
Administrative Oversight
- Manage Inside Sales staff, administrative functions, and CSR roles.
- Represent the company within the local and industry community.
- Perform other duties as required.
Decision Making & Problem Solving
- Regularly analyze and evaluate changing situations to determine appropriate actions.
- Coordinate major functions and make decisions that may impact multiple departments.
- Apply independent thinking to develop complex systems, techniques, or ideas.
- Balance short-term and long-term priorities in decision-making.
Supervisory & Management Responsibility
- Supervise a work unit of up to 15 employees and manage all personnel-related matters.
Independence of Action
- Operate independently on general assignments with minimal supervision.
- Coordinate related activities or work units and report results to leadership.
- Refer policy changes to supervisor.
Consequence of Error & Budget Responsibilities
- Errors may result in significant financial loss, damaged relationships, or deterioration in public/customer relations.
Confidentiality
- Handle confidential information related to individuals and executive-level decisions with discretion.
Internal & External Contacts
- Supervise staff and manage workflow.
- Present information requiring tact and judgment to gain approval or cooperation.
- Regularly interact with customers regarding sales, complaints, or service issues.
- Follow established procedures and standards while exercising judgment and tact.
Education & Training
- High School Diploma required.
- College/University Diploma in Business, Sales & Marketing, or Technical field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office required.
Experience
- Minimum 5–7 years of related experience, preferably in a Sales/Distribution environment.
- Previous management experience required.
Physical Skill & Effort
- Activities include sitting, standing, walking, and reading work-related materials.
- Requires attention to detail and moderate travel.
