Lead Security Officer

This position includes a $1'500 sign-on bonus.
Opportunity
The Lead Security Officer
plays a significant role in ensuring a safe, secure, and friendly environment
by enforcing security policies and being responsible for safeguarding Kohler
Co. and the Kohler brand. This is accomplished by identifying risks, maintaining security processes in order to reduce
risks, responding to incidents, and limiting exposure or liability in all
areas: financial, physical, and personnel. The Lead Security Officer will also ensure that standardized security practices, systems, and processes are being utilized to meet corporate
security guidelines and policies. In
addition to these, the Lead Security Officer will support departmental
initiatives, support the training of new officers, and provides oversight of
officers on their shift.
A Kohler Co. Lead Security officer is a resource, can provide medical aid, can assist with
crisis intervention, and provide direction. They respond quickly in emergency
situations as an integral team member and serve to protect the property, guests, visitors, and employees of Kohler Co.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Manager –
Global Security Facilities and Operations, and within defined time frames, the Lead
Security Officer will:
- Use an analytical approach to assess a situation to determine proper escalation in the notification process.
Answer, evaluate, and prioritize incoming telephone calls.
- Communicate effectively with various callers to obtain complete information to determine urgency and need for dispatching emergency responders, including but not limited to: company first responders, security, police, fire, and ambulance services using
- Security Department’s computerized dispatch software, telephones, and multi-channel radio.
- Input information from a variety of sources to maintain current accurate records in the security case management system.
- Recognize, and monitor, security equipment issues ensuring the proper notifications are made for repair.
- Observe and report all suspicious activity or policy violations.
- Efficiently manage the access control requirements in a manner that ensures the highest level of security.
- Verify appropriate customer service levels are being met.
- Troubleshoot security systems as necessary.
- Take the lead in improving security processes and procedures by identifying specific problems or deficiencies.
- Demonstrate a high level of expertise for all computer software used by Corporate Security.
- Consistently delivers outstanding customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Participate in the planning of departmental objectives.
- Provide oversight and leadership for officers on shift.
Skills/Requirements
The minimum physical requirements include:
- The ability to transport emergency medical equipment, such as medical bags, from a vehicle to the scene of the emergency and appropriately utilize, to the level of training, such equipment at the scene.
- The ability to ascend and descend fixed or portable ladders to access roof and other areas in the event of an emergency.
- The ability to be certified and correctly perform CPR, unassisted, as defined by the American Heart Association and operate an automatic external defibrillator.
- Ability to provide verbal instructions to others in an emergency in a clear and intelligible manner.
- The ability to legally operate a passenger automobile or light truck.
- The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time, as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High School education: two-year college degree preferred (Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration or Liberal Arts).
- Law Enforcement, Industrial Security, or Military Police experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Maintain required skills in medical response.

- Submit reports of daily activities and irregularities, such as equipment or property damage, theft, accidents, presence of unauthorized persons, suspicious activities, or unusual occurrences to Corporate Security Supervision daily.

- Maintain emotional control and work effectively during emergencies, crisis situations, or extremely stressful conditions.
- Consistently speak in a clear, well-modulated voice.
- Memorize, retain, and accurately recall information.

- Represent Kohler Co. and Corporate Security in a professional and respectful manner to all guests and associates during daily activities.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Be able to work a flexible schedule such as holidays, weekends, irregular hours, or extended shifts with short notice to support departmental initiatives.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Be alert/focused at all times and safety conscious.
- Operate security equipment in a safe and respectful manner at all times.
- Provide guidance for others using effective decision making/problem solving skills.
- Work independently and encourage the same from his/her co-workers.
- Uses speaking and writing skills to effectively motivate others to act.

- Participate in conflict resolution.

The hourly range for this position is $30.25 - $45.35 plus tips/gratuity. The specific hourly rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
