ead Industrial Designer, Wellness Products Work Mode Hybrid LocationHybrid at Kohler, WI or New York, NY Opportunity The newly created Wellness Products business has been charged with becoming the premier Mind & Body Wellness provider for at home and professional spa sanctuaries.The objective of this business is to not only grow an already wellness-centric product portfolio, but also create a clearly differentiated go to market strategy with a tailored angle to captivate the target audience with unforgettable showroom and digital destinations.Applicants must be passionate about wellness and having expertise in the ever-growing market is a plus! Given the start-up nature of this business, applicants must possess a bias for action, an ability to continually assess with openness to pivoting as the market dynamic changes and must be team-oriented with a willingness to dive in and support with whatever is needed.Prior start up experience is preferred. Specific Responsibilities Responsible for helping to develop and execute upon the Wellness Products Strategy, Product Roadmap as well as identify and implement key technology enablers required to commercialize the strategy and product roadmap. Create innovative concepts, products, services, experiences, and human interfaces through the design process while recognizing the influences from manufacturing, marketing, engineering, cost and timing. Contribute to the growth of the Industrial Design department by demonstrating design expertise. Share in the understanding of business strategies, product strategies, consumer research, and human factors opportunities. Represent the Industrial Design function on projects that are large in scale and/or complex. Have a deep understanding of the Industrial Design vision and tenants that allows them to be leading the vision. Design innovative products through the New Product Development process and take the designs from concept generation through implementation. Maintain consumer insights, especially in the Wellness Products space, so that functional aspects can be considered along with aesthetic needs and cost objectives. Maintain awareness and solid understanding of existing Kohler products and products offered by competitor businesses within the Wellness industry. Participate in accomplishing the day-to-day activities of the Industrial Design department. Research design-related areas such as trends, color, materials/processes, or CAID. Provide design and technical guidance to the team and other designers. Educate the design and new product development community on your design expertise. Develop contracts for vendors and design consultants relationships Support NPS Planning with planned activities and concepts on an annual basis. Work very closely with all new product development departments, especially Engineering, Marketing, Purchasing, and Manufacturing, in a team atmosphere achieving new levels of creativity and innovation with their key projects. Lead new product development concept development activities, prototyping activities, and project cost adherence. Plan, organize and give project presentations to management. Learn, understand, and implement new approaches to concept development and design research, stay abreast of technology development in the Wellness space. Continuously explore and develop new methods of model making and presentation techniques. Maintain current awareness of consumer and competitor product offerings. Develop and maintain familiarity with new materials, processes, and technology. Skills/Requirements Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university or college of industrial design with academic emphasis on product design.Experience in interior design, architecture, furniture, lighting, consumer research and/or related field. Experience in the field of Wellness is preferred. Typically has 6 - 10 years of design experience to obtain this level of competence. Applicants must be authorized to work in the US without requiring sponsorship now or in the future. The salary range for this position is $99,700 - $127,050. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate’s experience, their education, and the work location.
